About Dr. Taslim

Dr. Taslim has offered many talks, trainings, and workshops related to well-being, including self-care and burnout, noticing the signs and symptoms of mental illness, culturally-adapted and anti-oppressive approaches to evidence-based therapies, and diversity, inclusion and anti-oppression. She is known for her work on Radical Self-Care.

She ensures that each of her talks and workshops are tailored to the specific community for whom she is working. She has been invited as a guest/keynote speaker regarding mental health, resilience, burnout, oppression and racism. She has been interviewed by many media outlets (e.g., Global, CBC, CTV, Huffington Post) regarding the same. She is a MedCircle Certified Educator.

Dr. Taslim is a Faculty Member at Adler Graduate Professional School where she teaches courses on Ethics in Psychology, Psychopathology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Cultural Humility. She is Adjunct Faculty at Lakehead University. She teaches clinical courses, supervises theses and student research, and offers clinical supervision to students.

She has worked in correctional institutions when employed for the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, and in community health when working for Anishnawbe Health Toronto and for Eastern Health in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Her clinical practice currently takes place through Silm Centre for Mental Health where she sees clients, offers assessments, supervises other clinicians, and offers consultation to community organizations in need of support. 

Dr. Taslim has her PhD and Masters in Clinical Psychology from Lakehead University, where her research focused on body image, eating disorders, intimate partner violence, and engaging with marginalized populations using community-based participatory research. She obtained her Masters in International Development Studies from Dalhousie University where her research focused on intimate partner violence within First Nations communities in Northwestern Ontario. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts at Brescia University College at Western University.
